Welcome to the Palacios Preservation Association

If you’ve been with us since SaveTheLuther.com, welcome home.

What started as a grassroots movement to save the Luther Hotel has grown into something bigger: a permanent, community-backed, 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to protecting the historic buildings, architecture, and heritage of Palacios, Texas.

This isn’t just a new web address. It’s proof of what can happen when a town decides that its past is worth fighting for — and its future is worth building together.

Grassroots movement to Save the Luther Hotel.

The Palacios Preservation Association believes the places we save hold the stories we share.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Our mission is to make a positive impact on economic development and community engagement in the Palacios area through support and promotion of historic preservation and heritage tourism.

Our Vision

We envision Palacios as a thriving coastal community where historic preservation and heritage tourism drive economic vitality, foster local pride, and enhance the city’s unique identity. By safeguarding our architectural and cultural treasures, we seek to create a sustainable and welcoming environment that honors our past while embracing our future.

Whether it’s the longest porch in Texas, a crumbling building façade, or a century-old story passed down through generations, we’re here to protect the places, preserve the stories, and partner with our community to keep Palacios uniquely Palacios.

An Update on the Luther Hotel

Progress photo from June 2025 showing foundation work underway.

There’s real progress to report—the foundation work has officially begun!

This exciting milestone marks the first major step toward restoring the beloved Luther Hotel. But it couldn’t have happened without one final, important effort: clearing out the hotel’s remaining treasures during the “From the Luther, with Love” community giveaway.

Below, you’ll find recordings that capture this meaningful moment and what’s ahead for the Luther
