Preserving History, Building Community
Preserving History, Building Community
Thanks to the incredible outpouring of support from preservation-minded citizens like you, the Luther Hotel—our city’s most iconic landmark—has been saved. But its rescue is more than a victory. It’s a launchpad. It’s proof of what’s possible when a community stands up for what makes it truly one of a kind.
Now, the Palacios Preservation Association (PPA) is stepping into a vital new role: not just as a steward of the past, but as a driving force for Palacios’ cultural, architectural, and historical future. We’re laying the foundation for a future that protects the soul of this City by the Sea—and positions Palacios as a premier heritage destination on the Texas coast.
To launch this transformation, we’re forming the Palacios Preservation Legacy Circle. This visionary group—limited to just 50 founding donors—will provide the momentum we need to raise $100,000 by August 1, 2025. Gifts between $1,000 and $10,000 will fuel these core initiatives:
These efforts will do more than preserve our story—they’ll help bring it to life, welcoming visitors, boosting local business, strengthening community pride, and unlocking new opportunities for everyone who calls Palacios home.
Founding members of the Legacy Circle will receive insider updates, invitations to milestone events, and recognition in select future publications (or remain anonymous if preferred). Most importantly, your name will be remembered as part of the moment Palacios turned vision into action—and action into impact.
Ten years from now, Palacios is celebrated across Texas and beyond as a premier coastal heritage destination. Visitors wander through a vibrant, restored downtown, explore beautifully preserved historic homes, and uncover stories that were once passed down through generations. Heritage tourism sparks new businesses, empowers local entrepreneurs, and breathes new life into once-silent storefronts. In our proud port city, a rising tide of preservation and community spirit lifts all boats—unlocking opportunities, revitalizing neighborhoods, and generating shared prosperity for every Palacian.
As historian and honorary PPA board member JP Bryan reminds us, “Heritage tourism is the fastest growing business in the state of Texas.” With your help, Palacios can lead the way. Will you help write the next chapter?
We hope you will consider joining this small and powerful group of legacy-builders—because when we preserve Palacios, we don’t just protect history; we give it a future.
With gratitude,
The Palacios Preservation Association Board
